OMG, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer! Ask me Anything!
I wouldn't normally confess I had this CD. But I have company that are convertable to liberals and we are having fun. B-) I take it to work every year and have even played in my dictation machine years ago, LOL!

*******************************************************

Oh and here's the word's to Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

She'd been drinkin' too much egg nog,
And we'd begged her not to go.
But she'd left her medication,
So she stumbled out the door into the snow.

When they found her Christmas mornin',
At the scene of the attack.
There were hoof prints on her forehead,
And incriminatin' Claus marks on her back.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

Now were all so proud of Grandpa,
He's been takin' this so well.
See him in there watchin' football,
Drinkin' beer and playin' cards with cousin Belle.

It's not Christmas without Grandma.
All the family's dressed in black.
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig.
And a blue and silver candle,
That would just have matched the hair in Grandma's wig.

I've warned all my friends and neighbours.
Better watch out for yourselves."
They should never give a license,
To a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house, Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

5. I own that CD, too

And you know what else? "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" is a re-recording!

Notice that the CD gives the year of release as 1983? Well, the original 45, which I have, is from 1979. And they're noticeably different versions!

If I didn't hate that song with every fiber of my being, the re-recording on the Rhino CD might just piss me off. ;)

6. And ya know what else!
When I listened to the song against the words of the version I found on google, the words are not the same as the what is being sung on the CD.

You are right - the release version on my CD is 1983. And the words I posted are not exactly matching with it.

Hey thanks Dean!

But - I kinda like this song! :D

9. There's another fargin re-recording on that CD, too

Charles Brown's "Please Come Home For Christmas."

That re-recording irritated me because "Please Come Home" is my all-time favorite holiday record. And I've never been able to find the superior original recording on CD!

10. How about "Rusty Chevrolet"
you got that one? It goes like this

"Rust and snow. The heaters broke, The door just flew away.
I light a match to see the dash, then I start to pray.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio it's ok!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusted chevrolet!"
