3. People who don't want to think about the present realities? |
|
but would rather busy themselves with the delusion that shopping and singing meaningless carols will make the reality go away?

4. I'm very fond of Christmas. |
|
Perhaps it's the kid in me. I admit it - I like the carols, even after they've been played umpteen times over the radio. I like the decorations, the excitement, everything.
I admit that I'm not much on the shopping side of it. Getting a small gift or two - the kind that cost less than $5 - is sorta nice. Giving little gifts of the same sort is fun, too...especially to someone who doesn't expect it.
I'm sorry it isn't - seemingly - that much fun for others.

About Christmas! Whew! We must celebrate the Solstice or the "Chariot of the Gods" will never again carry the sun across the heavens.
Lighten up, Lady Freedom.
Smile.

"It" being all the colorful decorations, the special cookery, the music of course. It all helps me be a bit more hopeful and cheeful. And I like prolonging that feeling as long as possible. I like having something to look forward to.
And especially since my parents passed away and getting divorced, Thanksgiving isn't especially fun to me anymore. It's OK, I kinda just live through it basically. Perhaps one day Thanksgiving will be fun again, never say never and all.
But I do prefer xmas to thansgiving.

11. It also lifts my spirits, supernova. |

And with 3-year-old triplets in the family, it is a very special time of year. Their sense of discovery, awe and wonder is something that I would not trade anything for.

And hate the holiday because of how commercialized it has become.
