The old people won't stop starring at me!
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 03:44 PM by Radical Activist
No, this is not related to the thread on marijuana. I'm at Panera with my lap top using the wifi connection. Every time I do this and there's someone over 65 around, they stare. They keep looking over at me. There's one woman today who keeps turning her head to look at me for the last 20 minutes and she isn't subtle. Its like there isn't a person over 65 in this town who knows what the internet is and they've never seen anyone use a laptop.

Its like I'm a circus attraction to them. Sometimes they make odd comments they think are funny or ask me questions about it. "Are you really on the internet there sonny?" I know I sound like a jerk complaining about this. Sometimes its cute and fine but other times when I'm trying to focus on something it can get a little annoying. I guess I'll have to put up with it until they're all used to it. Does anyone else have this experience using wifi in public places or is it just the fact that I'm in a backwards town with no young people.

10. I chickened out.
I don't want someone thinking I enjoy a picture like that. I asked him how his crossword puzzle was coming along the last time he looked over and now he's keeping his eyes on his own table.

7. Hee hee hee... those are actually some of my survey drones
I've been recording you.

They probably figure that you are learning something, or possibly writing something, and knowledge scares them so they keep staring at you waiting for you to do something sufficiently "hippie" so that they can call the cops and have you taken out.

Or, being old, they might just be confused.

11. I knew it!
There's a lot of them today. You know, there should really be wifi in retirement homes.
