Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 02:41 PM by Screaming Lord Byron
I'd totally go for Tom Baker, myself.

Here's how I'd rate them

1. Tom Baker
2. Sylvester McCoy
3. Patrick Troughton
4. Jon Pertwee
5. Peter Davison
6. William Hartnell

Here's a refresher if you need one.

4. My rating
1. Peter Davison
2. Tom Baker
3. Sylvester McCoy
4. Jon Pertwee
I didn't like the older Doctors much or the one in the movie.
I don't know if companions had something to do with it. I really liked Peter Davision's companions: Andric, Nyssa, and Teagen and Touglow later on (spelling?). I really liked Sylvestter McCoy's companion, Ace, probably more than any of the other supporting actors in the entire series though.

5. I liked Turlough. He was a miserable fucker.
Tegan and the Fifth Doctor had lots of sexual tension.

6. Patrick Troughton
and then Tom Baker. The later, wimp-y ones were just useless.

9. Brave choice for #1. I saw him in Victoria in August.
I was walking down through Bastion Square and there's this flurry of psychedelic waistcoat going by, and my mum (yeah,I'm 27 and I was hanging out with my mum!) and I look at each other, and then look at him, and he gives us the 'yes, I'm famous, but no, I don't want to have anything to do with you' look.

11. I've met Colin in person, twice...
Quite a bit different in person than the character!

It's the produced stories that are of varying quality. Most of the novels I've read that were based on his charcater were actually quite good. "Killing Ground" is a classic, not to be missed.

12. Aah, I should have defined TV only.
Otherwise it's way too confusing for casual passers-by.
