Can you get Retin-A without a prescription these days? Anyone? |
|
I've found websites where you can order it, but it seems fairly pricey.
I've used it to lessen lines and wrinkles, and it really works on me. Of course, once you stop using it, the lines come back. I'd like to start up again!

You can get products with small amounts of Rentinol (Revlon comes to mind), which is similar but not the same.

4. retinol doesn't seem to do anything, at least for me |
|
If the OP can't get to Mexico, I would advice switching to Alpha Glycolic night cream. It's about $15 for a 15 ounce jar but it seems to work very similarly to Retin-A. Same side effects though -- peeling, redness possible. Unfortunately, anything that doesn't make you peel probably doesn't really do anything at all.

3. yes and it's actually quite cheap, at least in Mexico |
|
In Tijuana Retin-A in Spanish-language packaging runs less than $10. Renova is $5. You don't need a prescription in Mexico, and the Customs guys don't seem to care that you're returning with cosmetics in your purse. I mean, I wouldn't declare to Customs, "Oh Look, here is my wonderful face cream that I need a prescription to buy here in the U.S.!"
I don't think Retin-A is yet OTC in the U.S. but my derm recommended Alpha Glycolic, which is OTC, although a bit more expensive than Retin-A.

6. If you are a female, and there is even the slightest chance that |

you are pregnant, or could get pregnant, talk to your doc before taking Retin A. A quick google on the subject seems to show that topical Retin A is not a problem to a developing fetus, but oral Retin A could cause birth defects. Just FYI...
