A unique friend of mine is in town
I have to tell you about a friend of mine that is in town from Dallas, TX.

As I look back, I first met Avi in 1989 when I was in a religious jr high school, and he was from Israel. We became friends right away, because he's a unique person, and I consider myself unique in some ways. Avi has always been a good friend, high and low. One time I was over at his house, he had this parakeet, Fred, and one day I let him out (by mistake) and we spent all afternoon looking for him in the house. We couldn't find him and I had to go because Avi had to get ready for Color War finals that night. When I saw him at the finals tonight, I thought he looked mad at me, and it turned out that he was mad at his mom for running late to take him to school for the finals. Fred was eventually found under the bed in Avi's bedroom. Years later, animals after animals (including a poodle mix named Tovi who got ran over by a car), Avi and his family moved out to rural part of Aurora which is a Republican stronghold, with a new stepfather who sells junk for a living, and now owns Casa Nova Galleries (http://www.casanovagalleries.com). Although he carries a British passport for over 10 years, without any intention of becoming a naturalized citizen here in the US (I don't know if he became one but that's something I'll ask tonight). Finally he moved away to college in Dallas a few years ago. I lost contact with him, but when I came to Dallas for training for a week, I, of course, looked him up, and met with him several times, helped him purchase his first computer (a POS E-machine, bought against my advice), helped set it up, and eventually have a life of his own. I know he is still a single guy, and I also know he's very handsome by my standards. A few weeks later, Avi and his sister Ruti flew to New York to attend my wedding -- a first, because none of my friends other than him came for my side of friends. He has been a part of our family, and I've contacted him sporadically, and I finally got ahold of him a few weeks ago, and Avi told me he'd be in town on the 26th. Today, while driving on my way home, I saw a license plate that said AVI8RIX (I finally interpreted it as aviatrix), and it reminded me to call him and I hadn't done that until few minutes ago. Now we're meeting up again tonight after dinner, and I can't wait.
