One of my Teachers/Chefs was fired for accusations
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 08:40 PM by corarose
That might or might not be true. He has a wife that works at the College and she is one of the other Chefs and they have a little boy and they just bought a brand new house.

They have him on a suicide watch at home and the wife is about to break down.

The girl accused the chef of making a rude comment to her and she was threatening to sue the college but they fired him instead. He had worked there for years and he was my first Culinary Instructor.
He is a nice man and I felt so bad about him being fired two weeks ago.

My Question is:

Can the students take a petition around the College and fight for his job back. He has bad back injuries so he is going to have a problem with getting a job in a restaurant and teaching at another school will be out of the question.

Can students help to fight for a Teachers job if he has been accused of sexual harrassment?

Also the student that did the accusing was failing the class and not working out in Culinary or Pastry.

She said that he told her to suck his dick when she wouldn't clean the kitchen.

1. I had no idea culinary college had so much drama
Your threads read like a soap oprah.

When you graduate, I want to eat at the restaurant that you are going to work at.

5. It's from a year ago
She came up to me for advice about having an abortion because I am an older student and she had no family here in the states. Her parents married her off at 16 and she was 18. She went out with the Baby Maker and he knocked her up and he also knocked up two other girls that's why we called him the baby maker. He was also married and his wife was back home in southern IN or IL.

10. Are you kidding?
The number one field of suicides in France is chefs. There's more drama than you can imagine. In the US it's pretyt bad too but since our system doesn't rely on 2,3,4, or 5 stars our chefs are under a little less stress. The stress to please and to be recognized is there nonetheless.

It really takes love to make a good dish and love, in this world, is never really appreciated.

I'll go with you to eat one of her dishes!

4. The girl said that, and there were no witnesses,

and the teacher got fired? There must be more to the story than that.

On edit: I think you should go to the school board and tell them that the girl showed you a gun and threatened to kill you after school, and that you are going to sue them for failing to provide a safe environment. What the heck, why not?

7. We have people that want to file Lawsuits all of the time
If you don't work out sue them and that is what is happening. She couldn't make it in college so she is suing to get some cash out of the deal.

Why would you sue over that statement anyway.

8. If my boss,
or even a co-worker, told me to suck his dick I would be damn sure to do whatever it took to make his life miserable, and if that meant getting a lawyer so be it. I have a hard time believing that if this teacher had a good reputation and record that one accusation would get him fired. If he says things like that he doesn't deserve to work around women, case closed. I have been working fulltime since I was 18, and put up with more than my share of sexual harassment as a young woman. I was even fired for refusing to sleep with my boss, when I was 19, and that was the reason given. Those days are over, thank God, and nobody should have to put up with BS, I don't care if the guy has a kid and a new house. All the more reason not to be an asshole.

9. I feel sorry for his Wife and Kid
I was a TA for her and I feel sorry for her the most.

I remember the abusive days that we had to take so much shit to keep our jobs and I walked out on so many.

I had the owners son walk past me and grab my bra in the back and snap it and I ended up walking out on that job. I was in car accident while I had that job and I had bruises all over my face and he asked me one time if he could kiss the bruises and make them heal faster. He also told me that he had some meat that would get rid of the bruises so I walked that day. It was in an office and it was a medical lab and I took so much shit and then walked out. He would walk up to me from behind and whisper in my ear in front of the office that I was so pretty and then he would get dirty. I was on 18 at the time and I got so sick from his comments.

But, not all men are the same. I hate anyone who talks filthy now.

13. I feel sorry for anybody
married to a sleazebag. But that doesn't mean he should be able to harass students, assuming that he did. I once had a guy, when I walked into a room, blurt out "I can't take it any more" , walk up and grab both my breasts. His excuse was that it was a joke. Not funny. I didn't do anything then because there were no witnesses, but I'm in advertising and it's a small business. A few years later when he needed a job he applied where I worked. I had a little talk with my boss. He didn't get it. As it turned out I wasn't the only one he harassed, word got around and nobody was willing to take a chance on the guy. Tough luck.

17. That girl won't last a day in a real restaurant environment
If all he said was "suck my dick" she got off lucky. You should hear the things various chefs have screamed at me. It's a universal rule, if you work in a restaurant, the chef will abuse you.

Hell the chef at my recently vacated place of employment was a 54 year old 4'11" chinese woman and she had one of the worst mouths I've ever heard. And I've been working in fine dining for 19 years.

That poor girl's gonna have a rude awakening when she enters the real work force. If she had refused a direct order from the chef in any of the places I've worked, she be fired on the spot, no matter how the chef phrased it.
