Better Ian McKellen Role --- Gandalf or Magneto?

Do you prefer your Ian McKellen as a good guy or a bad guy?

I think he was absolutely perfect as Gandalf. Probably the only actor who could do justice to that role.

But he's also pretty darn good as Magneto - even though Magneto isn't nearly as well-developed a character as Gandalf. It's just fun to watch McKellen play someone who's deliciously evil.

So what do you prefer?

2. Ian friggin rocks either way. Wonderful, wonderful actor.

But, I do prefer Gandalf, as you said, more developed and all that. The scene in the Fellowship of the Ring where he told Bilbo that he was no conjurer of cheap tricks or whatever....you know that's acting. They did some camera/lights things, but he has a great gift.

4. he's truly amazing in any role. try the scarlet pimpernell with Anthony

Andrews. SINK ME! he was malevolent in that one. I love
Magneto because he's not totally bad. He's such an
elegant man. Whenever Gandalf shows up, I feel like Aragorn,
better to the point of tears.
