This is scientific news?

(*snip)
Among the unexpected findings, said Guy Bailey, a linguistics professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and a leading scholar in the studies with his wife, Jan Tillery, is that in Texas more than elsewhere, how you talk says a lot about how you feel about your home state.

I have been to a few different places and we all speak different. Is Texas another country or do they just think they are? If I drive an hour south from where I live (I live in Cleveland, Oh)they speak different. Just wonderin' what ya'll think.

1. Molly Ivins, Ann Richards, etc.
love Texas. Very proud of their state. Very strong twang and accent. They don't even try to hide it.

I like sounding like I'm from the midwest; other times, I really overplay the Texas twang.

2. Being a Californian, I detest texas
However, my heart is with all those fine, suffering people that have the guts to be DEMOCRATS in that politcal shit-hole.

6. Whip it out! let's compare!
Seriously, think about what shrubco/Enron did to my state. They basically turned us upside down..... Electricity price fixing while bush's fed regulators look the other way, sabotaging our economy, setting up a DEMOCRATICLY elected governor for a very costly recall. We end up with the bill & an action figure hero fumbling around in our state house. Thanks again, texas, for spawning the Rove inspired chimp/beast..... You all couldn't have done a better job of F$$KING us in our heart.

5. Any time a right-wing Texan starts with the bragging B.S......
....I give them a sly look and say:
"Ah...you DO know that Texas ranks nearly on the bottom of every
attribute that makes a state great?"

They usually don't say to much after that.

3. Jist more Texas brag
There's more variation between hollars in the hills than in that big ol stretch down there south of Oklahoma.
