It's my birthday, I'm 45, and it sucks. Talk to me...
Tell me how you wish you were 45 again, and how that's when life really begins.

Tell me how you can't wait to be 45, because 20-something really sucks.

Whine with me, and reassure me that I'm not the only one who thinks 45 is blechy.

Whatever.

I'm drinking an Adnams Suffolk Special Bitter, and it's quite tasty

2. Big deal. I'm 50.
And I have found more in life than I ever had, even at 16. If you need a cheer-up, get the audio tape of Susan Jeffers's book "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway." I go to sleep with it every night, playing on repeat, and it may do wonders for you as it has to me.

Not there yet myself, but why do you think its blechy?

I've found that with each passing year, I've grown to know and like who I am more and more. Personally, I think there is a certain wisdom and confidence that comes with age.

4. Happy Birthday Goddess
I just turned 48 a few days ago. It was the lowest key birthday I've ever had - most everyone forgot about it, it was so low key.

I'd give anything to be 45 again. I was so young, so idealistic, so much less wrinkled....:P

5. Actually, you probably need reading glasses now
I am the worst person to talk to on this, because at 45 I was a Big Shot, thin, in shape, and with a Big Job; now, at 52, I am going to go bankrupt. Ah, women. The curse and the joy of my life. Treasure your friends, family and books. Maybe that's what it's all about, ultimately. And, don't feel sorry for yourself! Help those who need it, whoever they may be.

You then proceed to toss her feelings aside and tell them they're garbage. No lecture. Just honestly don't know why you would do that.

We’re terminal cases that keep taking medicine

53. Happy Birthday - I'll be 41 on Friday
It's a little freaky because this year I'm basically starting all over in life, with a new home pending and a new partner. I always thought at this age in life you're settled and know what's going to happen day to day.

But since things didn't work out that way, I take comfort in the idea that the one constant in the universe is change, and you never know what's going to happen.

I remember reading a parenting book when my son was a baby, and it said, if you find one stage of your child's development challenging, don't worry, because it won't last long. Unfortunately, that's also true for the stages you dearly love.

And I think life if like that now. The sucky times don't last, the good times don't last, but they always come back around again. That you can count on.

55. Age is just a number
Mind over matter--if you don't mind, it don't matter.

And life begins when you want it to--for me, it was when I got out of school, when I got married, when we started having kids, when I first went on the stage professionally, when we could finally vacation WITHOUT kids and went to Ireland, when I get them out of the house and on their own, when we move to Ireland in 10 years, etc., etc., and so on. I'm planning on numerous lives in this one, just in case we really do "only go around once!"

So have a  or three, a good birthday and do something you really love! :toast:

61. tee hee...happy birthday...I'm 45 too
Keep in mind, the older you get, the higher the quality of booze you have the ability to appreciate. Your tolerance may be less but your palate is more. So your friends and family gotta buy you the good stuff.

71. Is it your birthday too?
That's true about the booze...I can't stomach the stuff I used to drink years ago... :toast:

63. Don't worry...be Happy Birthday
45's ok. Seemed old once but now I'm 48 so it seems young.

Hey what can you do? Enjoy it!

64. Happy Birthday Goddess
YOu are right (I just turned 45 in August) 45 puts that FEAR in you that gravity is now your enemy (or at least you boobs, chin and any other part's enemy) and that 50 is not far off and all that jazz....it will pass in about a week.

Happy Birthday though...I'm quite pleased that you were born. The world needs more masters of the stringed instruments. :D

You can still drink Guinness without blowing gas all over the place. Happy birthday! :toast:
