Does anyone know where I can purchase a special lamp/light
to place in my new office? My hours are now going to be afternoons and evenings (but it's an excellent promotion). The only challenge for me is that I've tended to be a morning person. I need to modify my internal clock and I heard that a special light can really help. It's also what they use in the colder climates for Seasonal Affect disorder (I've never had to worry about that since I live in Southern California). Any info. from you guys would certainly be appreciated!
:-)

1. You probably need an Ott-Lite
or something like it. Full spectrum lights, I think they're called. I got one at Costco a while back, but haven't seen them there for a while. Try Ebay or ottlite.com. Check out coupons for JoAnns or Michaels as these are used for crafts a lot too and maybe you can get a deal that way.

Good luck!!

5. Ott lights, full spectrum lights
Ott lights are good (my grandmother and many other quilters love it as a light to quilt by and it is very nice light indeed), but if she wants to accomplish something similar to S.A.D. treatment she needs quantity as much as quality. If you see what is used which has been reported to work with S.A.D. it consist of these big light boxes which give lots of light over a large area. As to what the protocols used are, you'll have to look that up, but it involves being exposed to a lot of light for quite a few minutes a day to as much as several hours.

2. I've seen full-spectrum light bulbs at My Organic Market
here in the DC area.

You might check your local health products store. You could also try the marketplace at http://www.redjellyfish.com

search for "SAD light" and you'll find a bunch

then double-check the web to see if you can find the same model for cheaper.

They are BRIGHT...!

on edit: i think you only use them for 20 minutes or an hour at a time.
