2. Is this the one of the mimic octopus?
Too lazy to spend the time downloading, but if that's the video I think it is... Wow.

3. Sorry, I don't know the species
but they put this one in in a tank full of sharks and forgot about it; then they found shark carcasses at the bottom of the tank with astonishing regularity and couldn't;t figure out why. Someone stayed up one night to find out the octopus used it's excellent camo to hunt the sharks!

4. Holy shit, I just watched it.
OMG. That's astonishing. :wow: No, the mimic octopus is one that will actually attempt to look like other species, and does a damn good job. Worth googling for that video, too.

Thanks for sharing that. It was really amazing to watch.

"Fowler's Modern English Usage states that "the only acceptable plural in English is octopuses", and that octopi is misconceived and octopodes pedantic. Octopi derives from the mistaken notion that octopus is a second declension Latin noun, which it is not. Rather, it is (Latinized) Greek, from oktopous, gender masculine, whose plural is oktopodes. If the word were Latin, it would be octopes ('eight-foot') and the plural octopedes, analogous to centipedes and millipedes, as the plural form of pes ('foot') is pedes. In modern, informal Greek, it is called khtapodi, gender neuter, with plural form khtapodia." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octopus

7. They are said to be as smart as cats....
"Octopuses are highly intelligent, probably the most intelligent of any of the invertebrates, with their intelligence supposedly comparable to that of the average housecat." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octopus

But they're not nearly as cuddly.

11. Did you see the picture of the one-eyed kitten that was just born.
It had one eye and no nose. The woman tried to feed it but the poor little thing died. I think there were two in the litter, both died. Weird looking but sad.

I can't stand to watch anything eat anything else. It may be nature's rules, but It gets to me. That is unreal though.

Don't dolphins eat sharks too? Or do they just beat the crap out of them?

13. I think dolphins just beat the crap out of them
when/if they are threatened. Lots of top predators tend to kill their competition. Humans are a great example. When we really take over an area one of the first things we do is eliminate our competition. Lions, bears, puma, etc.

18. Or like where I live. Deers walking up and down the streets in
new developments that use to be all wooded areas. Then the people that live out there sit out corn on poles to bring them up closer so they get use to the people a little bit more. They are not suppose to feed wild animals for the animals sake. Of course, the new developments use to be the home of these wandering deers. They are confused and hungry. There are still some woods; however, think about how confusing it must be to the animals.

Then you see deer bodies on the side of the roads because all anyone wanted was a head to mount.

We also have a man who owns a lot of wooded areas. He raises the animals and moves around them so they are use to human contact. Then, when the racing season starts, some of those big, famous race car drivers decide they want to go hunting to relax. Guess where they go? The animals pretty much run up to them.

That's not hunting . . . that is slaughtering animals.

17. I saw this (?) on Nova or Nature a few months back and what was
so amazing is the people set up a camera at night and the octipus slithered out the tank to the other tank and then went back to his tank before the workers were due to come into work the next morning. Those buggers can go anywhere because the flaten them selves like paper and can even slip into holes the size of a 50 cent coin. I have never seen such an amazing creature.
