Anybody Play Poker at Pokerstars.com ?

You can play for free, it's pretty cool.

If anyone ever wants to play sometime pm me or reply to this thread.

www.pokerstars.com

You can also play for real money if you want to. They also have freeroll tournaments
that pay something if you win and it's free to enter. I played one once and got 1,200th
place out of 3,700 players. I may try it again, it's kinda fun and a thrill.

The free tables give you $2,000 to start, if you go broke you just get another $2,000 and
keep playing.

You can also watch the real money games while they are in progress.

1. Since I live in Vegas anyway...

I've been thinking about buying Doyle Brunson's "Super System" and trying to learn the ropes about poker. Now that blackjack has been relegated to "carnival game" (as in high house edge) status with 6:5 single deck, infinite shufflers, and ultra-paranoid surveillance that make card-counting all but impossible, I think poker stands as the only way to actually make money in the long term as a gambler.

I've been thinking about trying one of the online poker sites, but I'm worried about one thing. Namely, how can you be 100% sure that you're actually playing against other real people and not computer drones that attempt to steal pots and whittle away bankroll? Granted, Chris Moneymaker, who ended up winning the World Series of Poker last year, qualified for the tournament by winning an online event. But still....

If I do decide to try it out, either for fun or for real, I will PM you and let you know how it goes. Would you be so kind as to do the same? It would be nice to compare notes with someone else who's had some experience with it. Thanks.

On edit: Oh, you mean oreilly-sucks . com is YOUR site? I like that place, man! Keep up the good work! :)

2. progrocker69...........

I was talking about just playing at a table for fun once in a while. I have never
tried the real money tables. They do work the same way as the free table play.

Moneymaker won $2.5 million on $40 dollars, how lucky is that ?

I believe they guarantee the pots and the people are real and it's all on the up
and up. But you never know for sure I guess. I assume someone has to certify
them and collect the taxes etc. but I don't know for sure.

If I have your nic-name there I can search for it and find you.

My nic-name is Hitman23

Yes www.oreilly-sucks.com is my website, and I am on a fund donation drive if you
have any cash you can donate. Just visit the website for the info. My goal is 50 donations
by 12-1-03, so far I think I have about 20 or 25 small donations.

You should pm me and e-mail me, that way I will get one of them soon, I am online
a lot during the day and most of the night. Or let me know ahead of time when you
want to meet and play a table. I usually play texas hold em or 7 card stud.

4. Thanks Gore..........

I appreciate it, every little bit helps.

I had a thread in GD that ELAD approved but it got pushed off the 1st page pretty quick.

Maybe I should re-post it here in the lounge so everyone can see it.

5. Hey Gore !

How is it you have almost 600 postings and you did not know about oreilly-sucks.com ?

I thought everyone here knew about it. It's been online since 8-26-01, just curious.

Did you know about it and just never visited it ?

6. Sorry
I don't get on DU a lot because my kids use the computer all the time. I usually login to DU late at night. As I stated a small donation is headed your way. I am pretty ignorant as far as keeping up with all the stuff here, I just learned that there was a pitiful DOS attack that was tried today. As far as your site is concerned, no I was not aware of it until tonight.
