Workplace stupidity.........
Have any thoughts on this?

Here goes:

Couple of days ago the clerk in "charge" of us went on a hissy fit. (she's becoming more and more unstable by the day) ANYWAYS, nothing is too small for her to nitpick about. :nuke:

She flys off the handle because she found some pens in our storage cabinet. They aren't even ours we say in our defence, we found them in the old desk that a former employee vacated. (bear with me, this is important) :eyes:

So she goes to another section where the big storage cabinet is to put them back. :eyes: My supervisor is there and my "old" senior clerk is there as well (she sits there) A pal at work was there as well. Anyways, hissy fit woman was in quite a snit, and "old" senior clerk just happened to mention that there is a person in our section (Me, she named me) who has a "history of hoarding things" :eyes: right in front of my supervisor. My pal rolls his eyes at my supervisor, and my supervisor apparently didn't give this much mind, to this credit.
BUT, this "old" clerk and I have a long history. When I worked in her section, she targeted me and would have no problems making up stories like I "hid" work in my desk. :eyes: Everybody "knows" what she is like but upper management has never done much about her. She made my life hell when I was there, one of many people she didn't like.

ANYWAYS....... is something like that considered harassment? Can anything be done? I have my own thoughts on things, but I just wanted some feedback.
(she really did a big number on me a few years back, and then there was a very stupid weak manager who never stood up to her. I went to the union, but like did they really listen to me? Nah.)
It's like when you keep spreading rumour or whatever about a person for YEARS, can it be stopped. I'm just so tired of it all. Just leave me be!

2. Yes.
It's called, 'Creating a hostile work environment', and you may have legal recourse.

3. There are a number of things that you can do, for yourself
and your peace of mind. First, revel in the fact that you are not like those who have nothing better to do than to create problems for others. Secondly, take some comfort in knowing that you clearly represent a threat of one type or another to those folks, probably because you take some modicum of pride in what you do. Third, and last, if the people who are making your life so difficult were as good as they obviously think they are, they would be supervisors themselves, instead of having to whine to someone else. Don't let them get you down!:hi:

5. Thanks for all the interesting feedback guys!!!!
:hi:

I think there are some really bitter and jealous people where I am. BIG TIME, and I'm sick of it. It's so tiring, not just for me but for others. I haven't been the only person they've tried to hurt, or belittle, etc. I do think it's creating a hostile work environment and supposedly management has to ensure a respectful work environment for everybody. (but with our super, forget it! Really incompetent person who coddles the real dummies in the office!)

We'll see what happens, I just may do something drastic. :nuke: :)

Read the synopsis of "The Caine Mutiny" if that made no sense to you...

Old senior clerk and hissy-fit manager are workplace bullies. Unless you are in the UK, Canada, or Australia, good-fucking-luck getting something done about them.

In the USA, workplace bullies are "hard managers who know how to get the WORK out of people", and admired for some sick reason by the insulated upper-classes. And those who either escape or get crushed by these assholes are just "weak".

My girlfriend works for a bully, one who is SO good at it that she has thwarted EVERY effort to solve the problem. just a few years until she can retire, so she's trying to "tough it out". HR showed that they care only that the company doesn't get sued, not about the "quality of worklife" (any wonder I'm so hostile towards HR's efforts to make us "more effective employees"?) her health is suffering, our relationship is suffering, and if I could get a "free pass" on any felony I'd care to commit....

If I was you, I'd answer any passive-agressive bullshit about being a "hoarder" or "hiding work" with an offer to dump out my desk drawers. I'd counter-attack. It's the only "coinage" a bully understands and accepts. once you make it plain to them that they fuck with you at great peril (and I don't mean "going through the chain of command") they will find another chew-toy...

8. Don't tolerate this kind of behavior.
Confront them constantly to prove they are right. Make them show you are hiding work, hoarding pens, whatever it is they are claiming. If you're doing the work you're supposed to do, it will work.

My older brother used to bully me verbally until I started giving it right back, and he stopped immediately. Amazing. I learned an important lesson from that and just will not put up with such garbage from anyone.
