1. Had to go with USC, but the simple fact that there is some question
about this shows that the BCS is screwed.

Playoff system now!

Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 02:43 PM by jus_the_facts
.......that gives you the top 25 teams plus 7 more...that pretty much takes care of anybody that may have a gripe about gettin' in...first week cuts it to 16 teams...second week cuts it to 8...third week cuts it to 4...fourth week cuts it to 2...week 5 play for the Championship.....that's the way to do it...PLAYOFFS NOW!!!

5. But that way......all the teams with any potential what so ever....
...get a shot at the Championship...and...the Bowl venues could be used for playoff sites...they'd make even MORE money...that's the bottom line...$$$$

6. I was thinking 16 teams
That way you could get ti down to four extra games. Quite frankly, no. 17 would have no reason to bitch.

9. Keep the BCS system
Use the 4 Major polls for the top 4 teams using BCS standings. Under a new system if non-bcs teams have 2 or 3 great years they would be jumped into a BCS conference replacing a team who is consistently lossing. For example if TCU would go 11-1 or 12-0 next year they would likely be jumped into the Big XII South Conference replacing a team like Baylor who will be lucky to win 4 games. It also penalizes BCS teams for having bad years meaning they could be forced to join a non-bcs conference. Another, if Marshall goes 27-1 over the next two years they would be likely to replace a terrible ACC team like Duke or Wake Forest if they end up playing terrible. Another? What if Colorado State has a very good record for the next 2 or 3 years, they might replace Iowa State(if they continue to do horrible) and join the Big XII North Conference.I say make a 4 team tournament, keep the rest of the bowls and I think if you can't make it inside the top 4 you don't deserve a shot at the National Championship. I know it sounds crazy but what do you think? In this system it keeps the BCS, a top 4 playoff system using the 4 BCS bowls, it penalizes BCS teams for terrible play and rewards very good non-bcs teams. But I will bookmark this thread and view it later, my Sun Devils are on TV and I got to root for them.

8. Wish they could go head-to-head
That would squash all speculation...

Big-10 and SEC are the 2 strongest conferences, IMHO. (Here come tha flames, I know!)

If the Tigers don't make the Sugar Bowl...can Santa Please Please Please send them to tha Rose Bowl???? I'd get to tailgate right here at home in SoCal!! Gumbo and Jambalaya in Pasadena, anyone??

GEAUX TIGERS!!

11. If Oklahoma loses their conference title game, will it be USC vs LSU?
Seems like Oklahoma has too much of a lead even if they do lose. Any BCS experts out there?

And, even if OK does lose (not bloody likely, though) I still think they should go to the title game--they've looked the most impressive all year.

14. I think OU is in ,win or lose the Big XII Championship game.
And if they lose one game this year,it'll be the Big XII.

13. Who knows?
That's the idiocy of rankings, the BCS and opinion determining who's a better team. I wish people were not so obsessed with this whole #1 business. When the teams never play, how the hell do we know? What, exactly, makes a team that goes undefeated by playing mostly cupcakes any better than a team with a few losses from playing tough conference opponents?

This is said as an LSU fan, too. Do away with the BCS, do away with all rankings and just let teams play. The less college football ends up like pro football, the better.

16. USC
If the Pac-10 gets screwed yet again (which it will--anybody who doesn't think East Coast bias exists just doesn't pay attention), I hope it pulls out of the BCS. At least we'd get the Rose Bowl back.

So Michigan could get beat by two PAC-10 teams in one season?

25. Wow...
LSU was fantastic on Friday. If the Hogs that took Florida to the last second had showed up, it might have been a closer game, but the better team definitely won this time.

Congrats Tigers!
