after a few dates, she confides in me that she has Herpes 2. She said it flares up once or twice a year. Otherwise, she is a great match for me. Would you progress more into this relationship or get out, and why? (This shouldn't violate any guidelines. It's just a real-life question)

1. Considering the things one could catch, |

genital cold sores would be the least of my worries.
But that's just me.

I dont know if I could myself continue and to have a sexual relationship? Thats not me..
I have herpes simples 1 - the cold sore kind and I know when not to kiss or do anything.. but I'm not sure if HSV2 can be transmitted when not symptomatic. Thats a doc question that I cant answer.
I would be HIGHLY careful though - even w/o HSV2 :)

3. If that's the only thing she's got going against her |

I would probably proceed. I'd educate myself thoroughly about the condition - I'm not sure what the prognosis is for having children, for instance. But I don't think it would necessarily be a deal-breaker.

4. With what's left of our lives, what the fuck? |
|
Pun intended, obviously.
Go do it. Enjoy it while you can.
And I'll go for you if you don't want to.

I'm thinking, I'm not a player I'm looking for something serious and permanent, WTF. But still......so if anyone has had this issue, I'm more interested in how long you go without, when it's symptomatic, if you know what I mean.

5. Yes, of course I'd still see her. Millions of people live with herpes. |
|
It's not a death sentence, afterall. I'd say you should definitely educate yourself about it and make sure you take steps to be safe.
It was appropriate of her to tell you. It shows she's a woman of integrity and courage. in my book.

6. I'd get as much information about the condition as I could. |
|
I'd talk to a doctor to see what the risks are. Then I'd weigh those against how good the relationship could be.

7. Herpes is not the "end all" |
|
Lots of people function sexually with herpes with no problems.
Kudos to this lady for being honest!
