Need help with Entourage/Apple email |
|
I just recently installed Entourage on my eMac as the mail client (the default Apple email client will not open selected attachments that I receive on a regular basis). Even though I have (I think) made Entourage the default client, I still receive mail on BOTH clients. The Apple is in "real time", and Entourage must be checked (it will not automatically notify).
Two questions:
1) how the h#%l do I turn off the Apple email? I don't care if it stays in the dock, I just want it inoperative. I think I've tried most of the normal stuff, but no luck so far.
2) Where oh where are the Entourage preferences that allow me to set the "check mail every x minutes" flag, and where or where is a notification flag that can be enabled so it will show that new mail has arrived?
Thank you all in advance for all the knowledge that you have but I don't.

The Apple Mail app is just like any other app, just quit it. If it is constantly launching, check your Internet preference, e-mail tab. If Mail is listed, change it to Entourage.
In Entourage, got to Tools-->Run Schedule-->Edit Schedules. There you'll find the settings for frequency of checking mail. For notification options, go to Entourage-->General Preferences-->Notification for those options.
Good luck!

I'm halfway home - configured frequency of new mail, etc. easily enough, thanks to you.
Any idea why both apps receive mail, however? Internet preference is set to Entourage as default.
thanks again.

3. Mail can only receive if it's open |
|
Can you quit the app? If not, control-click the icon in the dock--you should get an item either "quit" or "force quit". Try that. If you want, you can remove the icon from the dock simply by click-dragginig it out of the dock--poof, it's gone!

As soon as I configured Entourage to check for mail at given periods the Apple mail client quieted down.
It's all good. :)
