DU Retail Slaves: How bad is the X-Mas Music?

It's day 2 of the holiday muzak & I don't think I'm going to make it. Mariah Carey. N'Sync. The worst version of Santa Baby - ever! There's this one song and the only lyric is "Christmas" over and over and over again! The only saving grace is a Smashing Pumpkins song they snuck in.

You're going to see me on the 6 o'clock news by mid-December.

1. Oh, it's much worse than what you've listened to

I went into one store and they were playing Alvin and the Chipmunks' Christmas album. I was still grinding my teeth as I left, trying very hard not to hit something on the way out.

7. I've heard that when shopping there

I swear, if I had to hear that so-called hypnotic tune over and over I would drive my loved ones crazy.
Somewhat similar to "It's a (G-damn) small world..after all". Isn't that sort of torture fordidden by the Geneva convention?
Once I went into an FAO Schwartz and asked a clerk, "How can you stand that????" Poor girl grinned and just said it was hard.

8. Oh the weather outside is frightful

and Frosty the snowman is a Jinglebells jinglebells jingle all the
way. Oh what fun it is another blue chistmas, but grandma got runover by a reindeer. I am still waiting for the Great Pumpkin!!

3. I'm so thankful I'm not working at a mall

I have had quite a few retail christmases, and hate Chrismas carols so much. This year I am avoiding stores as much as possible. Not like I have the money anyway!

5. We don't have any music in our store at Christmas

There's always enough noise, and we found that people really respond to the lack of annoying Christmas music. I know when I hear it, I want to start randomly hurting people, and that's never a good thing during the holidays.

6. Bad...really bad...

It started in mid-November. And the place I work at doesn't just play the "Look, there's snow!" sorts of songs; they play the religious ones, over and over and over. Considering how many of the employees are not Christian, not to mention the neighborhood we're in, it has begun to verge on offensive.
