Calling all BCS Experts--Will Notre Dame get a bowl bid if they beat SU |
|
Meaning Syracuse, this coming Saturday?
Note that I didn't say "should" they get a bid, but "will" they?
As for should, as an ND alumnus, I'm not even sure if I want them to. They're not good this year, but better than their record, and certainly better than a lot of teams who will go. But then again, 6-6 is still 6-6.

Notre Dame attracts fans to their games...some small bowl will invite them and sell out the stadium because of it.
Plus, the opponents fans will come out in force to see their team beat the legendary team.

2. Yeah, but will they accept it? |
|
Notre Dame has a history of not going to the "lesser" bowl games, because they don't need the money because of their NBC contract.

3. I only remember then doing that once |
|
The first year of their decline. And they kicked themselves for it afterward because the next year they did even worse. At this point they'll be happy to take any bowl they can get.

5. I thought I heard the coach saying he'd accept one if they went |
|
6-6.
Still don't think they'll beat Syracuse, but then again, I thought last night's Stanford game would be close.

I do have a problem with 6-6 teams going to a bowl, but then I had a problem with 6-5 teams going to a bowl. I think there should be a stipulation that bowl bound teams must be two games above .500. I mean what's the point of bowl games otherwise?

6. Probaly the Insight.com bowl |
|
Notre Dame is always a shoe-in for that game if they are a bowl eligible team.

Is played at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, Arizona. If Notre Dame gets 6 wins I think that is the best bowl game they can get. They will probaly play Cal or who knows. Predicting who is going to bowl games is not easy but I do know that the Insight.com Bowl will likely take Notre Dame if they have a winning record or are bowl eligible. I found it, the Insight.com bowl matches up the Big East 3/4/5 ranked team or Notre Dame v the #4 ranked Pac-10 team which is likely to be Cal unless Oregon State beats USC then it will be Notre Dame vs Oregon State.
