4. The Beatles...
Even though they had dolls and shoes out, and did a lot of self-promotion in the first few years, in the end, they were always true to their art/music above and beyond anything else.

Radiohead aren't sellouts.
The Dandy Warhols aren't sellouts, either, even though they allowed one of their songs in a commercial. They still do their own thing, regardless of what is considered 'popular'.

7. AC/DC
Carved their niche playing rock&roll a certain way and they sound the same now as they did then, with a different singer, and they don't care about trends.

15. Yeah, but when you consider that.......
They signed to a major label, got dropped, and then came crawling back to an indie, as well as the fact that their music has gotten crappier over the years. And let's not even get started on the "Into The Unknown" album.

16. Nobody says Fugazi?
Going on 15 years old, Not charging more than $9 for CDs and still playing $5 shows (except for benefit shows). And they still sell close to 100,000 records every time.

Show me another band that say that.

17. Few sellouts -- many products of corporate America.
It's hard to "sell out" when you're created by a record company in the first place, as so many bands are today.

18. Tom Petty
Does it his way. No compromises.

His last album was intended to piss off the labels and corporate radio.

The Heartbreakers did lose thier way slightly during the 80's video era, but have bounced back.
