Go. Your boss will notice. |

You might need a recommendation someday. Don't get the reputation for being a slacker. Suck it up!
I bagged groceries in all sorts of crappy weather. It sucked, but it had to be done. :D

But, if you're able, I'd go. Especially since you just started.
Edit - dude, it's 3 hours. You can do that standing on your head.

don't be calling in sick just yet! The trick to work is to find ways to make it fun and go in with a good attitude even if you have to force it.
Works suck... you gotta trick yourself into believing it doesn't or you'll become bitter...then start posting on FR

Try. Just try to argue with my logic. :D

19. I still say STAY THE F HOME |
|
We work too hard in this country. We should enjoy our days off and take as many of them as possible.
The French got this whole 30-hour work week thing down right.
Stay home, John. It's a beautiful Sunday.

Oh btw guys I went. It was a slow night, and I was hummin the songs that were over the intercom, its interesting really, I was thinkin about love and shit, and I come on to DU and I see that LPFF had a thread on it. Work was all right, I got some fairly good tips, and I had a crazy incident with a slim jim like thing where my nose got weird.

27. Hey John.... a secret... |
|
most adults I know... often have these moments... when waking up just start thinkging... I really don't feel well, maybe I should just stay home. So while lying in bed the conversation in the head goes on and on while hitting the snooze button on the alarm.
Then after a short bout of the "i don't wanna's"... we roll out of bed, jump in the shower and just force ourselves to do it. In the end, will power and self-discipline win. Nine times out of ten, one gets to work - breezes through - and the icky feeling goes away, or is not that noticeable. That one time out of ten is blechy feeling, but then folks at work realize (hard to hide) and calling in sick the next day ... no one even questions it. SOmetimes on that one out of ten times, one actually leaves work - but leaves after knowing one really gave it a good shot.
The thing is - we ALL have these conversations (the act of self-rationalizing). But the mettle of who we are is whether or not we do the self-indulgent (especially in the early days of a new job), or push ourselves on the self-discipline side. Rest assured, this is NOT the first time you are going to feel this way. Also rest assured, if you fall into the habit of giving in, you probably won't have this job very long.

29. If you're new you have to go to work |
|
They judge new people badly that call in. If you really do get sick soon and need to call in again, they might fire you. They did this to a girl at my fast food place when the economy was much better. Our temps that call in in the first couple weeks, at least not without a doctor's excuse saying they have something truly debiltating like pneumonia, are not asked back. I know that sounds unfair, but they don't want someone who they're going to have to wonder about showing up.
