I think animals really know who to turn to. I mean really. |
|
When I got home from work, this stray cat came running up to me.
It's eyes were almost shut tight. It's nose was bleeding.
It was white and filthy. I could see it was very sick.
He just sat on my porch and kept crying. He wouldn't leave.
My heart was/is breaking. I didn't know what to do.
Animal control just came and captured him.
I think he needed someone to help him die.
I feel so bad. I really wanted to help.
I gave him a can of cat food. I wanted to pet him, but he was so filthy.
I didn't want to risk passing something on to my cats.
The poor thing.
The Animal Control guy says he (the cat) sought me out.

2. That's so sad but I think you're right |

Poor thing. I've noticed that animals seem to instinctively know who likes them - when I see people walking their dogs, for instance, the dogs can just tell I love them and want to pet them. While they won't really react to other people, they see me, make eye contact and start wiggling.
My SO got our cat, Oops, because his mother who was a stray led my SO to a little nest in the bushes outside where she had her litter of kittens. He'd never seen her or had a cat before but he knew he had to help and he did.
I'm glad you were able to provide that poor kitty with some help, even if it was just a warm place to die in peace.

4. Well, at least the kitty is warm and dry now |
|
I can't bear to see a kitty out in the elements, looking starved and despairing. I know what that feels like, and it's too painful to turn away from. That's why I took in my current kitty. You're a good soul and you've done all you can. Maybe he'll be okay.

6. You're so right....And blessings to you for caring enough to see it done |
|
Animals know "good" people and can distinguish them from the "bad". My dog really dislikes one of my best friends and and the feeling is mutual. My friend thinks dogs are rude and impertinent. My dog thinks my friend is a jackass. Both are essentially correct. :)
In the last 5 years our next door neighbors have rescued 3 stray dogs (they're retired). They would walk my dog for exercise almost every day and would find abandoned strays along the way. After finding two that way, they quit the walks, but last week a new pup showed up on their doorstep. He's their newest. Sometimes you find the animal, sometimes the animal finds you
 Thanks for being kind.
