The refs decide to call an honest game, and the 49rs couldn't hang?

3. The radio announcers said there were a number of bad calls |

by the refs. The Niner receivers were being held all over the place.

Usually it's the other way around; the 49r reciever face masks the defender and the officials call the defender for pass interference.

The Ravens scored 44 again. Maybe there is something to Anthony Wright?

8. Actually, the Niners are a good sleeper team for 2004 |
|
While the wins are few, they have been very decisive -- double digits over the Bears, Bucs, Rams and Steelers. That is very indicative of a talented team capable of making a huge rebound one year later. Many of my Las Vegas friends love to isolate longshot teams like that for future bet wagers. The 49ers' inability to win on the road is likely short term, like the Dolphins this year as opposed to last.
The '98 Rams won games by wide margins, one year before the '99 Super Bowl breakthrough. Likewise, the 2002 Chiefs prevailed by impressive margins several times.

9. Try to keep optimistic, but I see a lot of trouble in the future |
|
There's a power struggle in the front office, and the vaunted "genius" gave up on a damn fine coach and settled on Erikson. Their offensive philosophy is in a shambles; do we play real football and throw it downfield, or should we rinky-dink it like Paul Brown taught it? (no, not that arrogant Walsh, he should be ashamed he doesn't point to Brown as the true "genius"). The Rat man, or Garcia (who can't throw the ball twenty yards downfield, like the previous "great ones" we used to know).
This franchise is in turmoil, and the front office is calling the shots. You think they would have learned from Dallas - you need a coach on the field, not in the front office. When they correct this, things will get better.
