Snow coming to Nashville- people getting stupid-RANT! |
|
It is 37 degrees and raining lightly. People are being more ignorant than usual. Yes, I know snow is in the forecast but do you HAVE to drive in the passing lane on the interstate doing 50mph? It IS NOT snowing yet! The forecast of snow DOES NOT make the roads slippery. ONLY ACTUAL SNOW MAKES THE ROADS SLICK! If the thought of snow scares you that badly drive in the far right lane. Oh, you really don't need to buy a months supply of food for an overnight snowstorm- live off your fat reserves idiots. And you people wonder how this state went to Bush- twice. We are a State of idiots.

1. nashvegas goes utterly bonkers |
|
if any weatherperson ever utters the word "snow"
they shut down schools--in advance--if a half inch of snow is predicted
when it does snow, they are utterly clueless
cracks me up.

Having lived here for some 11 years now, I think I'd rather see Nashvillains driving just a little too slow when there's snow on the roads than driving just a little too fast.
I think it was snowing a little bit earlier, but it seems to have changed back over to rain for now.

6. Drive slow, but not in the passing lanes! |
|
There is no reason to drive "like" the roads are snow covered if they are not. One snowflake that melts on contact with the road does not make the road slick.

10. what amazes me isn't that people drive slowly |
|
It's that hardly anyone drives at all
and the grocery store the day before snow is predicted looks like a Best Buy the day before a hurricane hits Florida.

2. Funny, I say the same thing here in Minnesota |
|
We have had a light winter as far as snow goes. Yesterday we got three inches and everyone seemed to toggle into idiot mode.

4. I was going to post the SAME thing, except about my hometown. |

People are going crazy...I'm listening to my scanner. Domestics, car thefts, disturbances, wrecks...it's going to be a crazy night!
We are supposed to get snow, too. Way down in South Mississippi.
LOL. :hi:

8. The temps are around 37 degrees. |

There is no way the road will be anything but wet. As I said, I can see why Bush took the state- we are idiots!

People here in E. TN are acting like this is the movie 'The Day After Tomorrow'. The stores were packed. They think we're gonna get a blizzard :eyes:

9. Forecasters Were Saying up to 6" In Nashville |
|
It's not like it is up north, where the ground is cold all winter and you can get some traction on the snow. Ice forms on the road so fast it's not funny. Throw in hills all over the place and you've got ingredients for a mess.
My first winter here was 94/95. There was a small ice storm that shut I-65 down as far south as Birmingham. I made fun of everyone and then took secondaries home at midnight. Slid all over the place, but managed to make it home in spite of 1/2 inch of solid ice. I don't laugh at them anymore. There aren't that many snow plows in the state, so you're just as well to stay home and sit tight for half a day.

12. Well, we lived in Idaho for five years... |
|
It's easy to shake our heads at people around here when they get worked up over a few inches of snow.
We're helping my daughter move to her apartment on Sunday. A little bit of snow ain't gonna slow us down at all. :)
