Deleted sub-thread.

Sometimes... some good (and non flamey) posts get deleted along with the snarky, flamey ones. I don't think I like that feature anymore. x(

2. I had that happen to me the other day

It did clean up the thread nicely, but I was more than a little pissed since I hadn't sad anything worthy of deletion and had invested a fair amount of time and thought in my posts.

It's a useful tool, but manually pruning a thread to keep teh useful content is generally a better idea as far as I'm concerned. (Note: I didn't see the thread this post is about so I'm not criticizing any particular mod.)

7. I had that happen to me recently.

Another DUer and I were having a really interesting discussion about art - really about how people respond to art, and how people respond to criticism of art - that was surrounded by flames. The whole subthread got deleted while I was writing a really long post. I was a little upset about that. Luckily the stuff I was going to post was still in my browser cache, so we got to finish out the conversation via PM, but still, though I appreciate how the feature can make life a lot easier on a beleaguered moderator, its application can have some unfortunate consequences.
