What the hell is it with Paris Hilton?

Apparently she's got cubic dollars, a solid-gold family name and will fuck anything that moves.

Which is nice if you're looking for that kind of a date and your standards aren't all that high.

On the flipside, women who are:

a) more attractive
b) more intelligent
c) lower maintenance
d) groomed better

than Paris Hilton are not rare. I'm gonna be blunt: Paris Hilton is the fugliest woman who's ever been graced with the title "supermodel." And calling her a ditz is offensive to all the other ditzes out there.

They put this wench on the covers of magazines. WHY? There's not a person here who couldn't find ten women they'd rather look at than Paris Hilton. Or as they say in Texas, I wouldn't take Paris Hilton home if she was the last woman in the bar.

I don't much care for what it says about our society that someone from a wealthy family and a reality TV show :eyes: is ubiquitous in the media and has book and recording contracts. :eyes: Truly the triumph of publicity over talent and hard work.

Despite the disparaging comments made about acting on this thread, the reality is that, generally speaking, anyone who is really an actor, author, or musician has had to work to get cast, published, or recorded. Unfortuately, since all of those fields are now indelibly linked with celebrity, people think it's all People magazine, bottled water, and publicity tours.

The other day I went into a store and saw a display with Paris Hilton fragrances. The thought of anyone choosing to smell like Paris Hilton immediately brought up all kinds of unpleasant associations. I asked the clerk, a young African-American woman, whether people really bought such stuff. Unfortunately, she started chattering about party girls and Nicole Richie's book and things of that sort. I wish I had gently told her that she was worth six of Paris Hilton, that she was better than that, that she should aspire to bsomething better.

I suppose people prefer the fantasy. It's like movie-going in the Depression era. It's much more fun to escape your bus commute and budgeting to focus on glitzy images.

Bush and Paris Hilton typify people who got where they are today not due to actual competence in any area, nor by strength of character, nor by hard work, nor by being particularly interesting, but due to a propaganda machine and a morally bankrupt focus on money and class.

For example, some month back, Paris Hilton's mother was to be featured in a reality TV series in which she would supposedly teach other people how to have class. Huh? Her daughter is going around relieving herself in public and being displayed on the Internet in flagrante, and we're supposed to believe Mrs. Hilton can provide the rest of us with CLASS?

So it's the dirty little secret of the U.S. -- adoration of money and publicity and power. Paris Hilton's not being demonized; she quite simply deserves the criticism, and so does the system.

And don't tell me simply not to read about her. She's shoved down our throats even in publications such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. I hear more about her than Laura Bush, which is really something.

OK I admit it, I've seen the tape (I'm sure I'm the only one here who has) and it was..... BORING!! The extreme vapidity of both participants was particularly painful but what I noticed most was what a TERRIBLE LAY she is. No creativity, no spontaneity, nothing. She seemed like she was doing the guy a favor letting him "have" her golden self. It was more comedic than erotic.
