Thank you loungers! I love you! |

With all the fights I have with some of our anti-porn "feminists" around here, I can lose sight of where the majority is at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x4793116#4793305

1. I look at it this way: |
|
If an adult wants to watch or read porn, I have no problem with it (I like it myself). If they don't like it, they should just stay away from it. Seems easy enough to me.
That being said, however, child/teen porn is definitely NOT okay with me. Those kids are being exploited for the perverse pleasure of adults, and if it was permanently banned, I would have NO problem with it. Yes, I believe whole heartedly in the First Amendment, but I do NOT believe it should be used as an excuse for the exploitation of children.

2. Amen. The First Amendment should not be a shield for |
|
kiddie porn or trafficing in children. It does not give the freedom to print anything that is limits the freedom of others, which means death threats and kiddie porn should be nipped in the bud.

5. I agree with you whole-heartedly |
|
and the FBI was doing a better job under Clinton to go after pedophiles who create child porn. Under Bush and Gonzo, resources have been taken off child porn to go after (consenting) adult "obscenity".

3. It is banned, and not available through the legal adult distribution chain |
|
child porn is a record of a crime, and as such is rightly illegal.
As far as teen --- there are a lot of titles with the word teen, meaning 18 and 19yos.

4. I consider 18 years old "adult" |
|
The teen porn I was referring to was that using kids 13-17 years old.

6. In the past 25 or so years |

there have been exactly 4 underage performers in the (legit) adult industry - including Traci Lords. All of them presented fake-id.
The industry doesn't want anything to do with kids, although there are some companies that specialize in 18yos. AIM (adult industry medicine), where all performers go to get there health tests has a program and a video they show all new performers -- it actually scares about half of them out of the business before they start.
Personally, I think that 18 is an arbitrary number. If the government wanted to make the minimum age 21 to perform, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I think 18 is fine to purchase, although I do get some pretty immature 18yo young bucks in the store from time to time.
