I just got back from the GA DU meet up in East Atlanta at the Graveyard
Tavern which was formerly the Graveyard Cycle Shop ( as in motorcycles!) prior to being transformed into a cool bar and restaurant! The food was wonderful, the beer high quality and the service was excellent! Y'all should check it out!

We had a blast! What a great group of Georgia Democrats!

RubyDubyinGa, Catwoman, Ulysses and his lovely wife and their baby Uly (precious, beautiful boy!), Mike and Kathy Malloy (baby Molly was with her grandmother), Burythehatchett, Krebs and Caspar and Doni and her DU SO (I can't remember how to spell his DU name right now), some other Duers (L Cid?) and Mr. CB and several friends of Mike and Kathy, and several new to DU people were there! We had a great time!

Check this out: Mike is going to give us GA Duers a shout out on his show tomorrow night! Thanks in advance Mike & Kathy!

We plan to meet up in Athens, GA in May!

:woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :) :woohoo: :)

Pictures were taken. Hopefully someone will post pics tomorrow!

2. We had a really good time. Pictures to follow
as soon as Michael, Mike's friend, emails the pics to a GA DUer who can post them! ;)

Hey northofdenali! How's the weather in Fairbanks? I had a great aunt (my Pawpaw's sister, Nancy) who lived in Fairbanks for many, many years! She died about 10 years ago. She was an optometrist there. I so want to see Alaska! The USA is so freaking HUGE! It is so had to see all of it. Alaska is on my list of places to go!

Do y'all have a lot of Alaska DUers up there? Post some Alaska pics for us down here in the lower 48! :) :hi:

Peace. CB

20. C'mon up, CB, I'll buy the first brew.
It's been snowing for 2 days but warm, about 20 above, so we're all out playing in it. Not a ton of us DU'ers, unfortunately, very red state - think Ted Stevens and Don Young (no, on second thought, DON'T think of them. Enough to make you :puke:) -

but those of us who're Dem's are pretty rabid about it!! Who was your great aunt? My husband's been here for 50 years, I'm a newbie - I've only been here since 1968. We'll probably recognize her name.

Here's a fairly recent pic to start you off:

Yukon Quest start 2006, downtown Fairbanks on the Chena River (go, puppies!!!)

22. Hey, they're DUers too!
I was just trying to list the folks who came. :) We had a good crowd. Mike's friend Michael took pictures for us which was really nice of him. Michael was just introduced to DU by Mike and Kathy.

Burythehatchett recruited two really cool new DUers: Kaliph and Marty.
I hope they'll start posting soon!

6. It was so nice to see and your family!
A good time was had by all! The drive back wasn't bad at all: no rain and no traffic.
Baby Uly is SO cute and sweet with the most beautiful blue eyes! :) He seemed to be having a big time at his first DU meetup!
:hi:

8. I had a blast!
A-T-L (and surround area) DUers are the best!
What a great night of good food and great conversations!!!

And Carter Dean wants to thank Cottonbear for the rattle :) If I could have just figured out how to sneak baby Uly out without anyone noticing....I would have given him back when my own gets here  :)

Again, it was great to see everyone again and meet some that I've known their names for a while now.

The Graveyard was awesome -  to Kathy Malloy for suggesting it.

And finally - lookout everyone: CatWoman says she's moderating next term..........

13. Maybe at our next meetup, Carter Dean and baby Uly can hang out together!
A-T-L Duers ROCK!

I hope little Carter Dean enjoys his bunny rattle.

Baby Uly is so sweet! :loveya:

It was great to see everyone! We even had three new to DU people there which was neat! We'll have to meetup at least twice a year and maybe quarterly like you suggested. Athens can be the site of our next get together. Thanks for helping to organize out meet up RubyDuby.

The Graveyard was great but Mr. CB and I always get sticker shock in Atlanta. :eyes: We're like country mice in the city. ;)

Ruh roh: Catwoman's gonna be a Mod! ;)

11. We missed you...
but it was lousy weather and if you've got what is going around, defnitely not a good idea for you to be out. Get well soon and we'll see you at the next one - in Athens!!

:hi:

15. We missed you! I hope you feel better soon.
It rained on us all the way on the drive in to the city. Fortunately, there was no rain and no traffic on the way back.

Maybe we'll see you soon in Athens! :) :hi:

I see that there's an Athens run planned. Haven't been there in many, many moons. I'd like to do that.

18. I would loved to have been there.
I live in Woodstock and there is no way that I will drive into Atlanta at night and drive back, especially if I have had a few drinks. But sounds like you all had a great time.

Next meetup, please have it somewhere farther north (like Woodstock, maybe?).

21. We'd love to meet you. Could you make it to Athens?
Maybe we can meet up in North Atlanta this summer and Athens this spring.
Ruby suggested twice yearly or even quarterly meetups.
