" I hear ya" is the nice way of saying "I'm disregarding everything u say"

My coworkers say this all the freakin' time and then proceed to disregard or misinterpret whatever has been said. They could at least mix up "I understand your point of view." or "I see where you're coming from." Nope, always the same damn "I hear ya." Was probably said 50 times in the staff meeting today. :mad:

1. I say that all the time and I dont mean it like that.

I usually mean that I agree or I understand where they're coming from.

2. I say that and I don't mean it that way AT ALL.

I remember reading once somewhere that the way people respond, ie, "I HEAR you", or, "I SEE where you're coming from" or, "I FEEL the same way", represents the first SENSE through which that particular person tends to respond.

We're all wired differently, but perhaps you've got a lot of people who are more auditorially-oriented in your office.

It certainly SOUNDS that way to me. ;)
