I hate buying it, and more importantly I needs to buy me some chips tonight... :9

1. Just melt some Velveeta and salsa together.
It'll work in a pinch.

Velveeta melted into Wolf brand chili (without beans).

4. I like this one and its easy
fry up some ground round and drain
then a can of rotel
then a half of block of velvetta

5. You can also use American cheese for dip
It works best if you use a double boiler but if you are careful, you can put it directly on the stove top using lower heat and constantly stirring. Shred or cut the cheese into small pieces and mix with half as much milk by weight. Stir often. If the cheese isn't melting and mixing completely, add more milk. If you want anything else in it like peppers, onions, or anything else, add those last after the cheese has melted.
There is American cheese that works better for this which I am not at liberty to name on a public message board. Most American cheese should work though, especially if you add more milk if you need it and start off with really small pieces.
