male singer with the blackest sounding vocal delivery I ever heard from a white guy. He had about three fairly popular songs. The video for one of them had (his?) head coming out of suitcases and other things. How's this for bad CRS? It is making me crazy. Anyway, I sure would appreciate this artist's name or the name of one of his songs.

Into the night.

Not sure if this is who you are thinking of.

2. I don't know about videos
but I do remember that Rick Astley ("Never Gonna Give You Up") had that description applied to him.

5. Rick Astley?
Skinny little white boy who sounded like a big black man..... great voice, but you just couldn't believe it was coming out of that scrawny little body.

Khash.

6. No, not him, but thanks. I hate having CRS. I can picture the
video with the heads popping up all over but not the tune or the man. Driving me nuts. I have been going through the Billboard Top 100 Lists for the 1980's looking for a clue. I am sure I will recognize the name instantly when someone knocks the cobwebs out of my head.

7. Well, the video you describe
sounds like Peter Gabriel but the rest of the description doesn't fit.

Sorry, I tried.

Khash.

8. Dave Wakeling from English Beat?
If not the rest of them, that's about all I can think of about white guys with black vocal delivery . . .

9. Was it Grayson Hugh?
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 07:13 PM by CBHagman
At least I think that was the name of the artist. He had a hit with "Can't We Talk It Over in Bed." In fact, I suspect I still have the single of that packed away in the closet or something.

On edit: Here is a link, for what it's worth.

10. THANK YOU! God, I hate getting old. The syllables of the name
were all in my head but wouldn't come together!

11. That keeps coming over me, too.
The other night I actually got out of bed to look up something I had forgotten. The tip of the tongue syndrome is happening to me more and more. Maybe it's time to take a class or do more crossword puzzles or something.

12. How old are you? It seems to hit about nine or ten years after
you need reading glasses.
