Like someone said earlier, avoid the trees.

Also, be careful to stay on easy runs. I almost got decapitated by my own board because I made a wrong turn and ended up on a double black diamond. If you're scared, don't go off on your own.

You have two edges to work with, your heel and toe edges. One of the first things I'd suggest learning is how to stop with your heel edge. Much better than stopping by falling down. :D

You will fall down a lot, everyone does.

I went snowboarding for the first time this year, have been up 6 times and now can't get enough of my new addiction.

Don't know how much you ski. If you do, none of it will help you with snowboarding. The only thing similar is that you ride the edge of a piece of wood.
