8. Endless, teary prom-queen speech.
Still, it was better than the SOTU.

6. Some nobody

who had never done anything of worth, acting in a movie about the great Johnny Cash, playing herself with her real southern accent, but with black hair like her character June Carter Cash, I guess because too many recent foreign female winners and nominees this year, can see no other conceivable reason
we turned off the sound for her, I'm sure, chirping little speech.

9. Her speech was very, very nice -- and so was her performance
She's done lots of excellent work -- she deserved an Oscar nod for "Election," imo.

I'd say she deserved the award more than quite a few of the Best Actress winners of the last 15 years.

12. Me too. Never expected it either And the fact they. sang their own songs
was amazing. That movie did not have a misstep. I sure liked when June's parents ran off the drug dealer.

15. i loved that part , too. that was cool of them.
I felt bad for June when she was onstage and she looked into the audience and saw that fundie woman glaring at her who called her a sinner in the store earlier that day for getting a divorce from Carl Perkins.

14. I can't understand the slagging here
Maybe people she went to school with or something -- I'm serious. Weird.

I thought it was a very engaging speech.

And, although I'm a Reese fan, I have many other actresses I like better -- including some she beat last night.

13. I am so happy that she won, and I LOVED her speech.
So much better than some of the irritating, border-line offensive speeches used last night.
