One of the only perfumes that doesn't end up smelling like rancid bug spray when it reacts to my unique body chemistry. ;-)

45. Hubby bought my Chanel #5 since we had a tree in our yard... |
|
Yes! There is a "Chanel #5" tree- the ylang ylang. We had them in our yard when I was growing up (on Guam, but they grow in Florida and Hawaii too). I told him many times of the wonderful smell wafting through the house when the tree was in bloom. After a vacation in Florida and a visit to the Fruit and Spice Farm (near Homestead- which I recommend) where he got to smell it, he bought me a bottle. Now it's my signature smell. He says I smell like ylang-ylang even when I haven't put it on!

This one girl I was friends with wore it and it drove me keeee-razy!!! Now, for my own personal, ethical reasons, I appreciate it less. Still smells damn good, though.

My favorite is L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain.
"One summer evening, Jacques Guerlain was overcome by intense turmoil. It was the suspended hour, the hour when the sky has lost its sun but not yet found its star. Eveything in nature is clothed in a blue light."
How about that --- wonder how many glasses of wine it took to be overcome by intense turmoil? Oh, those Paris nights.

I have three bottles on my sink right now - Shalimar, Happy and Pleasures, and between them, I'm set for any occasion
Shalimar seems particularly evocative to people - it reminds them of someone they know.

|
I would say that my favorites are:
Hypnotic Poison (fucking awesome) Noa Opium Baby Doll Amarige
Since you didn't ask, my top five for men are:
Herrera Herrera Ginger Joop Cool Water WCW Nitro (just kidding)
But, above all these, I like the blended perfume oils from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab: Asphodel, Lanaudum and Dirty.

which I acquired a passion for when my aunt sent me a French Perfume sample pack from Germany
I am not sure it is even made any more, but it was the only perfume/cologne I ever wore that NEVER made me get a headache or sneeze.

48. I can only comment on mine |
|
1. Caswell & Massey Lavender Mist. I wear this every day. 2. Demeter Cinnamon Toast 3. Annick Goutal's Petite Cherie 4. Annick Goutal's La Violette (DH REALLY likes this scent) 5. Bare Escentuals' Perfect White Dress
If I was ever going to wear another scent, it would be Chanel No. 5.
My favorite guy scents are Cool Water and DH's Old Spice deodorant ;-).
I learned several years ago that the best (and only,) places to wear perfume on the body is behind the knees and in the crooks of the elbows. In other words, one smells nice, but it's not detectable unless another person is fairly close to me.
