Need help framing several paintings
I have two paintings I bought when I was in Haiti. They are ver bright and colorful. My problem is that they are on plain canvass and have never been framed. I don't think they really belong in a frame. I do need to do something though. I was thinking of wrapping rope around the edges.
Anyone here more artistic than me? Ideas?

1. mr. blm is an artist
and it sounds to me like you can wrap them ON to a wooden frame where only the canvas is exposed.

2. that is the way they are now
I should have said they are on a wood frame. They look unfinished because the paint doesn't curve around the edges but looks rather ragged.

3. Cheswick
why don't you check out some of the frame stores/warehouses (Michael's, etc)?

Can pick up some beautiful frames for just a fraction of the cost.

Also, thrift stores and consignment shops.

That's where I bought all my frames for my home.

4. good idea
I will do that. In fact I think I will start online and see what ideas I can come up with. I want something that suits the paintings which were done by local artists in a town in Haiti.

5. You could try framing them in a "distressed" white.
The distressed feature would be sort of reminiscent of Haiti, while the white wouldn't draw the eyes away from the bold colors.

7. frames are so cheesy....
Just paint the sides white with acrylic paint, or cover sides with white tape.

8. you could find some...
....narrow wooden molding and paint it and tack it on.

I like the rope idea, although I might look for something flat and braided even in raffia.

Or how about this? Bamboo. Either split to make half rounds to glue on, or use multiple pieces of very thin bamboo.
