1. Wow, quite a scoop! Not even on ESPN.com or NBA.com!
Poor Blazers fans.

2. It's hard to be a fan here in Portland anymore
I loved it in the glory days of Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter even if they didn't make it all the way. Not really any players to like on the current squad since Sabonis left and Anderson is pouting.

I've paid hundreds to get good seats to some great games several years ago. Zach Randolph getting the DUI yesterday was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me. Getting rid of Bonzi was a good move, but Person is way below Bonzi's value. Breaking up the Bonzi/Rasheed may help improve the cancerous team chemistry here but I almost wish we were rebuilding from scratch.

3. can someone summarize what the fck happened in Portland?
I am a b-ball fan but have been distracted. Also, I try not to pay too much attention until 2nd half of season...

7. Fast version.
Paul Allen hires Bob Whitsitt as GM. Whitsitt repeatedly spends big bucks on players with questionable pasts but lots of talent. He drafts the same way. Further, Whitsitt never thinks about team chemistry, just talent. In a few years, the team is filled with numbskulls who get arrested at an alarming rate. The team fails to learn its lesson and continues to acquire similar types of players. The arrest repeat themselves ad nauseum. A team that once had the full admiration of Portland and Oregon, with many non-sports fans getting in on the action because the players (Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, etc...) were involved in the community and genuinely good guys, has become one of the most loathed teams in the NBA.
