Funny quote about Monty Python... |
|
(from Wikipedia)
After (Graham) Chapman made his homosexuality public on a television show hosted by British jazz musician George Melly, a member of the public wrote to the Pythons to complain that she had heard a member of the team was a homosexual, continuing on to quote a Bible passage which said "he who lies with another man shall be taken out and killed." (Eric) Idle sent a reply saying, "We've found out who he was and we've taken him out and killed him."

The woman apparently didn't know which of the Pythons had "come out" (perhaps she didn't actually see Melly's show, but had merely heard about it) because she wrote, "Someone from 'Monty Python' who hadn't had the courage to give his name..." Well, yes; guests on chat shows are often anonymous. :eyes:
Anyway, after Idle wrote back to her with his classic reply, the final six MPFC episodes were aired — the ones without John Cleese.
"I'm not sure what she made of that. And I don't care," Chapman wrote in "Graham Crackers."
