Would you buy a $50 pressure cooker at the store for $35? |
|
On sale for $39, but I got a 10% discount because it had been previously used and returned...
If it cooks vegetables quickly without losing their nutrients, I'm all for it.
Never mind putting some peeps under pressure every once in a while too... :)

2. YES. Have you ever cooked with one? |
|
They are the best thing ever! Try boiling a chicken in one with a whole skinned onion, a carrot, and some celery.
The chicken is to die for--most tender ever--and then you strain the broth, and you can make Chicken Noodle Soup.
If you can get a pressure cooker for $39, go for it!

6. Oops, Maddy, we have to disagree |
|
Maybe I'm just old fashioned. Shoving something into a pressure cooker ain't cookin' by my definition..... sorry.
But I do agree $39 is a good deal......

12. Just how old are you? |
|
When I cook, I do it all from scratch and by hand. Even ovens seem like some new fangled novelty item :)

11. Try shoving something (not peeps) into a microwave... |
|
http://www.healingdaily.com/microwave-ovens.htmOne site of many; those things destroy the nutrient quality OF food. I also read somewhere once that the USSR banned the devices in the 1976. http://www.relfe.com/microwave.html (the info in this site could be all urban legends, but worth the read anyway...) :)

"Watch Khash shove something that isn't a peep into the microwave! Let's turn it on and see what happens!"
You are a sick man, my friend.....

(P.S. Ever thought of children's television as a career choice? I could see it working...... )

14. Wouldn't children be happy with their Barbie EZ-Bake ovens instead? |
|
Still, I appreciate the suggestion - sickness aside. :D
Besides, as far as microwaves go, I tend not to use them or recommend them - apart from nuked popcorn...
Oh, if you're thinking of what I think you're thinking you think I was thinking, I wasn't implying any of your vital organs being shoved in there... :D There are healthier uses for those! :7

That sounds absolutely delicious! :9
My favorite vegetables too! :D
And the re-use of broth as soup must be a savings for the canned stuff, not to mention the lower amount of salt - which is always a good thing these days...

Cook like a real man, HT! Not like Donna Reed!
However, if you got it to torture peeps to death.... invite me over. I'll cook dinner and you can execute the peeps. Fair deal?

8. Manntra. 6 quart cooker... |
|
The brown rice (it's the only type I'll eat too) will be much easier to make; 5 minutes instead of 45...

10. I actually pressure mine for 30 minutes. Make it more digestible. |
|
Medium grain takes less time, long grain even less. I like it sticky. Sometimes I add sweet rice into medium or short grain.
Try pressure cooking millet for about 20 minutes. Makes it more fluffy. Even better, soak it, roast it dry, then pressure cook it. Throw some kobocha squash in while you're at it.
