Christopher Walken and John Malkovich would lighten up Butch and Sundance.

1. depends what you're going for - how about Godfather 3?
replace Frank Langella with that Duvall guy...

replace Sophia Coppola with somebody who can act... (wasn't Winona Ryder originally up for the part?)

maybe it wouldn't have sucked so bad compared to the first 2

4. Ryder had the part, was set to film, and collapsed from exhaustion
She had made like five movies in a year. So, nutcake Francis, instead of getting a nother actor, basically forces his daughter to do it.

However, I want to defend Sophia Coppola here: she was NOT horrible in the part. She actually did better than many so-called actresses. Was she great? No. She was mediocre, passable. However, when you're acting with Pacino, Keaton, even Andy Garcis... forget it.

I think Bridget Fonda is as bad as Sophia, and more affected in her acting.

8. Winona Ryder wouldn't have been any better.
The girl is pretty but can't act for shit. I'd much rather watch Sophia Coppola.

22. I couldn't disagree more
Coppola's performance was bar none the worst I have ever endured, and I've seen Johnny Mnemonic. Every moment she was on the screen was excruciating and frankly I feel her dad shat all over his legacy on this one. Anybody, anybody at all would have been an improvement. Seriously--Tori Spelling, Jennifer Love Hewitt--ANYONE. :grr:

RobinHoodPrinceofThieves speaks with a really poor accent. No wonder he had to hide in the woods.

5. Put Reagan in "Casablanca"--
--like they originally planned. Since Casablanca, of course, is Spanish for "White House"--the fates would have gotten him in his own "white house" then and there, his karma would have been in sync, and he'd never have drifted into the "real" White House 40 years later...and we've have been spared the Reagan administration...

7. Oh dear god...Interview with a Vampire
Tom Cruise? Brad Pitt? Antonio Banderas? WHAT. THE. FUCK?

All of those actors needed to go. For cliff's sake, Antonio Bandera's character was supposed to be a 15-yr-old redheaded boy! Uh, sure, 40-yr-old Spaniard is close enough because CLEARLY there are no young actors in the world.

For Louis I would have chosen a friend of mine, not that he's an actor or anything. If I'm choosing an actor I would say Daniel Day Louis. For Lestat...I'm not sure. But DEFINITELY NOT Tom fucking Cruise. Maybe Ewan McGregor?

15. I thought Cruise was ok for the role
But, there were other choices that were better... I had always thought of Lestat as a bit of a cocky SOB, and Cruise basically plays a cocky SOB in every role.

However, the rest of the movie was poorly cast. I could have done a better job as Louis than Pitt, and I've never acted... at least I have the black hair & green eyes of Louis.

30. Cruise was *better* than I thought he was going to be
because of the cockiness factor. That's true. But he still sucked at being a vampire. None of the actors have that pasty, fine-boned somewhat androgenous look that I wanted to see. I guess Tom is plasticky enough, but still has too much of a Joe America look to him. Brad and Antonio are both too masculine and look too...warm-blooded for lack of a better term. Maybe that's why I keep thinking of Brits to play the roles, they're properly pasty to play the undead.

Ewan did well in Velvet Goldmine, I guess that's why I thought of him (that, and I adore him).

it would probably have to be renamed Conan The Librarian but anything would be an improvement on Arnie.

13. A good comedic actress as the lead in "Striptease"
The book is very funny, but Demi Moore doesn't have the comic ability to carry off the role. She has the body, but not the acting.

Sandra Bullock? Cameron Diaz?

16. I'm a big Carl Hiaasen fan, and the only movie made out of one
of his hilarious novels was a huge disappointment.

I would have liked Sandra Bullock in the role.

They also sorely needed a good comedic director.

20. I think my favorite was "Skin Tight"
But, I also think a lot of his material won't translate well onto the big screen.

I thought the rest of the Striptease cast was decent, esp. Burt Reynolds.

When we first got the Tomb Raider game, MrG and I both commented on how Lara Croft was Alex Kingston-y.

Oh well.

27. True, but I'm not sure how they'd have handled the height issue.
Cuba Gooding, Jr. (and I agree with you that he'd have been great) is VERY VERY VERY short - it would've taken some very creative camerawork to make him appear even close to Ali's size.
