26. you know I was once on the phone flirting with
this gorgeous young woman who I really had a thing for. I was making up some jell-o at the time, when I remarked to who that I was making jello. She said that she hated jell-o. Now how the hell was I to recover from that?! :)

Edited on Sun Mar-12-06 11:55 PM by flvegan
Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made (man) is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one... that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~Mark Twain

So did you catch Burchill whipping as on Regal the other day? Good stuff.

Hey, can you get the theme music for Gregory Helms? My little brother and I really like it.

So here's another Buk quote for ya: "You've got to get rid of false friends and bloodsuckers first before they destroy you" It's from the poem: "the end of an era."

39. I love Teddy
From my own collection of TR quotes:

Courtesy is as much a mark of a gentleman as courage.

Don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep.

In short, in life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard; don't foul and don't shirk, but hit the line hard!

40. Dwight D. Eisenhower
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.

An old favorite that bears repeating. :)

packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.
