What years of being a repuker will do to you! (Campbell Pixs)
Edited on Thu Dec-04-03 01:17 AM by Peace_2_Everyone

I use to really like Glen, and during the 60s watched his shows every Sunday night, I learned to play many of his songs on the guitar. We went to see his show in Branson a few years back, it was a powerful show, moved this old man to tears many a time. Glen went on for a long while how Jesus had cured him of his drinking and drugs and then later launched a Clinton Hating rant during the show. He also sponsored Clinton hating (ie republican) rallies for bush senior.

Glen Before becoming hate filled

And now glen after years of hate

2. He looks like Rev. Jim Ignitowski going out to play golf...
Too bad, Glen Campbell's work with Jimmy Webb is pure genius popcraft.

6. Jeez, was his mug shot taken in a wind tunnel?
He appears to be grimacing into an onrushing hurricane -- or maybe it's just the rush of utter failure he's sensing.

9. Try a Little Kindness
How the guy had changed!

I still like his music.

Repent, Glen, repent!

--bkl

Try a Little Kindness

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load, from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say, you're goin' the wrong way

Well you've got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

Don't walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand, instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show everyday
Will help someone along their way

You've got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

You've got to try a little kindness
Yes, Lord, show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

(Glen Campbell, ca 1968)

10. What a great song that is!
Thank you for posting the lyrics. I remember him performing this song. I always liked it.

I wish all of us could take the message in the song to heart.

11. He's supposed to be performing here in just ten days
At the Camel Rock Casino near Santa Fe. I've been hearing the ads played every day.

That second picture really makes me want go see him now.

Such a damn shame. I was raised on Glen Campbell. He made some great music, and he had a fun variety show on TV in the 60s that my sister and I watched every week. It's so sad what Republicanism has done to him.

13. Hi! I'm Glen Campbell
The two pics are hardly comparable. He was probably in his early 30's in the first pic. He got to be in his mid-to-late 60's now. Besides, he had that hard ride when he and Tanya Tucker were flying away on the cocaine train back 20-25 years ago, so he's had his fair share of substance abuse. But, he did have a good show when he was in his prime. I used to like him and Mac Davis, two very talented musicians.
