Assuming you could pick anyone, who is your ultimate Pres/VP combo?
even people who aren't in politics or who have ever served in a political way whatsoever -

Picking any two people out of the aether, except staying within the bounds of the legal requirements for being a president (american citizen, 35 years old, etc.), who would you pick?

Years ago, I'd have happily picked Frank Zappa, but of course he's dead now, and so doesn't qualify.

And of course, one of the dangers of picking someone outside politics is that they might be hamstrung by not having the experience - either hamstrining themselves, or being hamstrung by congress or the senate simply for being "not one of us".

I'm not sure who I would pick out of the aether. But yet, as much as I don't particularly care for her, my mind keeps going to Oprah for VP.

Perhaps Clark/Oprah? Murtha/Oprah?

And quite honestly, I'd be willing to give Jesse Ventura a chance to be president.

Ventura/Oprah?

Clark/Ventura? - that could be a powerful combo, to decorated war heroes who are liberal/progresive, strong, and don't speak in bullshit?

Though Al Franken would make a brilliant VP, too. Not sure I'd want him as president, but VP, he'd rock.

What about Noam Chomsky? He's so brilliant... but I don't know if he could govern. What do you think?

And I know a lot of you don't like him because of his hair or because he has money and isn't afraid to use it, but speaking personally, I think that Donald Trump could make a hella good president or VP. He's used to managing, used to bossing people around, used to tough negotiating, comprimising, and teamwork...

Obviously, I'm staying in the "enterainer/intellectual" and "politician" zones, and not venturing into the "sports fucks" or "pop icons" zone.

What is the combo that would drive your excitement level so high you would be canvassing and donating your time and might even be compelled to quit your job to spend time on the campaign, because you would be so sure that they are the peefect answer to all the country's needs?

I know there are a few people I respect greatly whose names aren't coming to me right now, so I'll wait to see what you all have, and will probably change my mind.

4. I'll only vote for you if Fred Phelps is your VP
Only because I think he should be in a very, very, very public position where a lot of people can constantly say "Shut the fuck up Fred, you hatefilled asshole psychotic idiot" every time he speaks in a cabinet meeting, or is just talking to you.

9. "And his fucking moron idiot cabinet"
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 04:20 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Every morning would start with you harranguiing your cabinet, it'd be Limpdick, Cheney, Phelps, Falwell, Robertson, Dobson, Coulter, O'Lielly, Murdock, Fuckstick, Rummy, and a host of others, and the cabinet meeting would just be you telling them what mindless, hatefilled, asshole jackoffs they are, and then you will do whatever you want and they won't have any real power.

But they'll be earning $120 grand a year, and they're all just slimy enough to sit through the abuse every morning just to get the paycheck.

Oh, and your cabinet meetings should be televised live.

12. See. I could really get into that.
I need anger management therapy anyway and chewing each one of those assholes a new one every morning would make life worth living. It would be fabulous.

But, I would reduce their salaries to minimum wage...because I could.

Can you imagine the freepers' dirty tactics? If there is a Jesus, the freepers would surely claim he was gay or controlled by the clenis or a goddamned communist. :silly:

Maybe not the ultimate, and not designed to win big, perhaps, but I'd love to see Kucinich crack the whip in the Senate.

33. While I voted for Kucinich in the primary, I'm beginning to see...
...that the Vice President might be an even more important slot. In the matter of bringing the corrupt Senate under control, I'd rather see Kucinich's hand on the tiller.

Edwards seems honest enough and charming enough to fill the Oval Office well, and at least doesn't seem hell-bent on bombing every nation he can't pronunciate. He might even be willing to help undo some of the damage * has done.

28. Russ Feingold/ Major Owens
Owens is the representative from Brooklyn off of whom Mark Richardson from the West Wing is based. He is retiring from the house after this term I believe, but he would be great. I am thinking instead of the usual President/ Vice- President thing, this ticket could have two co- presidents, and as a team they could serve for 16 years...
