Poll question: How often do you clean out your spam filter? |
|
Personally, it's one of my least favorite computer "chores".
I check it about once a week, at best. :eyes:
I think I got a bit behind, b/c I just now checked it and there are almost 1200 messages, which I can only delete in groups of 25 at a time.:wow: Ugh.
Yet ANOTHER reason to hate spam. It's like adding insult to injury. Yes, it gets caught in the filter, but it still has to be dealt with, eventually....:grr:
Can you relate??

2. I'm an idiot--I didn't know that I had a spam filter... |

until it became so clogged that my email service was rejecting new email. Now I keep it cleaned out about once in a blue moon.

The PM box is kinda a pain in the ass to keep cleaned out just because it gets really full and I have a hard time deciding what should be saved and what can be deleted.

once in a while. Sometimes I'll find emails I actually WANT that somehow got caught in the filter. Most of it is usually complete shit, but it's the occasional important email that gets caught that makes the process so tedious, b/c I have to check them before I can trash them permanently.
My filter is with Yahoo, that's all I know. I'm totally lame in the tech dept.

13. I kill it as soon as it comes in |
|
I don't send it to a "special" folder - I white list all my email, and then everything that's left stays in the inbox. But for the most part, I get very little spam anyway, so the few that come in show up in the new mail ticker, and I just blast them there.
It's the beauty of having an intelligent email program that I can do all sorts of fancy shit.
Of course, when I say that I get little spam, that might be entirely true - my email program is set for one account to destroy right on the server anything that isn't addressed to me, so I never see that shit.

I don't think I've ever tagged more than two or three keywords, and the stuff the filter catches is automatically flushed after a week.
I just checked the folder for the first time in forever and there were 16 messages going back to March 10.

My spam filter is too sensitive. Sometimes it traps the emails I *want* to read.
Fortunately I check my email frequently enough and have enough other filters on it so that the email I know I get reguarly gets put into the folders to read at the appropriate time, and I just scan over the spam email list to see if there's anything in there I recognize as not being spam.
Then it gets purged.
<insert sound of a toilet flushing>.
Mark.
