Are you gonna watch chefography tonight? It's about Emeril. |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 07:52 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I'm quite interested in this one - yeah, he "BAM"s a bit much, and does the ol' "I don't about where you buy your (whatever), but where I get my mine, it don't come seasoned"...
But he's a hella good guy, who had to make the tough choice of the music conservatory or the cooking school, and I look forward to learning more about him.
I won't want to watch it if they ever do one on that asshole Bobby Flay, but I'll watch it anyway, just to hear from all his neighbors about how he tortured animals, pulled wings off flies, and just plain annoyed the fuck out of everyone and how no, they're not at all surprised that he grew up to be a self-absorbed obnoxious c*nt and how they all celebrated the day he moved.
Emeril, though - he's cool!
I also want to hear more about Ina's history - hers I think will be interesting.

|
a nice man who served gourmet meals to the rescue crew after 911?
all emeril did was run away and then give an interview crapping on us after katrina, so i dunno, love the food but he doesn't seem to be a v. nice person, in our time of need he headed for the hills
can't say that about bobby flay

4. What's wrong with Bobby Flay? |
|
Well, it's all about perception, but the guy so totally comes across as an uncreative self-absessed fake moron that I can't fucking stand him. His voice grates on me, even when he's only talking about food - he is filled with shmarminess to a level to which only the most vacuous of Hollywood non-artists could hope to aspire.

2. I want to see the Paula Deen one |
|
Ina would be interesting too, but do not MAKE me watch the Giada one, I am likely to break the TV for that one.

3. Paula would be interesting, too. She annoys the hell out of me, |
|
but that's mostly just because of the overextended southern accent thing she has going that makes her sound like a goddamn moron, her food, even though it isn't very creative or healthy, is totally the comfort food I grew up with, and, while uninspired, I think she has a true passion for family and serving them good tasting, comforting food, even if she isn't as "primary source" as I would prefer.
And I bet she would be a goddamn blast to spend a couple days with!

6. Did you ever see the show about the leadup to her recent marriage? |
|
The bridal shower and the outing she had with all her female friends were hysterical!

8. I remember seeing something about her marriage - |
|

I can't remember if it was in the leadup, or if it was after the wedding, but the hubby (or soon-to-be hubby) was there.
I bet that after a couple Mint Juleps she's a motormouth and a stitch.

There might be one of those exciting, can't miss, knuckle biting, poker tournaments on at the same time.

Sort of on subject. I bought a set of Emeril's stainless mixing bowls from Costco, and I'm going to be buried with them. They are the perfect weight, are attractive enough to use as serving bowls and are super handy. I love how the lip on them is just perfect for holding in the crook of my arm while mixing batters... Emeril can "Bam!" as much as he wants. I love him, and he's seems to be rather genuine. :hi:

11. I've held his cookware at stores, and it all seems very nice. |
|
And he is a genuine kind of guy - does a lot of work with poor kids, too, through the Emeril Foundation, and helped a lot in cleaning up after Katrina, especially helping out his employees.
I would like to get me some more really good cookware... by set builds slowly.... slowly....

13. I usually use a set of cast iron fry pans that have been handed down |
|
over a hundred years, but I add nice pieces of cookware and appliances here and there. I really recommend the mixing bowls. You get a set of 4 nesting (the biggest one is obnoxiously HUGE...in a cool way) bowls with lids that fit inside the rim, and stainless mixing cups to boot! They are my pride and joy along with my KitchenAid mixer. :hi:

14. I may catch one of the endless re-runs. |
|
Emeril & an audience have odd effects on each other. I've read he drinks lots of espresso as he tapes these shows--back to back. But a bartender I once knew had met him several times & said he's more laid-back in person.
Bobby Flay seems to have that New York City kind of brusqueness. It's not rudeness--but he's NEVER laid-back.
Unfortunately, Alton Brown's biography is not included, so far. Fortunately, neither is Rachael Ray's!
