'American Idol' Gets Own Live Pre-Show
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060314/ap_en_mu/tv_idol_tonight_7

LOS ANGELES - Just like the Academy Awards, "American Idol" now merits its own pre-show. Beginning Tuesday, the TV Guide Channel will present an hourlong, live pre-show before each of this season's remaining "American Idol" telecasts.

"Idol Tonight" will feature appearances by ejected contestants and past "Idol" stars, plus interviews with vocal coaches, casting agents and industry insiders. Exclusive footage, including auditions, outtakes and post-performance confessions, will also be shown on the weekly program, a show publicist said Monday.

Hosted by former "Idol" finalist Kimberly Caldwell and one-time "Popstars" contestant Rosanna Tavarez, "Idol Tonight" will air at 7 p.m. and will capture the red carpet vibe outside "American Idol," said Ryan O'Hara, president of the TV Guide Channel.

2. I didn't even like American Idol the first time
when it was called Star Search.

What the hell is wrong with people? This show SUCKS! Its bad music sung by mediocre singers. sheesh.

3. The only one who proved to be different from EVERYBODY ELSE,
including all past seasons combined, was Nadia (from last year). A powerful voice, energenic, not the usual wailing banshee vocal style... sheesh, a breath of fresh air. No wonder she was voted off; she wasn't "same enough". x(

5. It's just entertainment to some people
No need to freak out. What makes you think there is something wrong with people if they don't like the type of programs that you like?
Actually, some of those people are pretty good singers.

I'm not trying to be a dick, it's just that I find it funny when people freak out over a friggin' TV show...lol.

6. freak out?
Hmm...I wouldn't call it a freak out. It simply amazes me that so many people watch a clearly shitty TV show, especially since very similar shows like Star Search were never so popular. Its the power of advertising and hype I guess.

8. I didn't watch it until last year
I like hearing "raw" talent. Most of these kids never had training and aren't used to singing in front of millions of people. Being a musician and also working with all types of musical acts in the studio over the years, I have always enjoyed working with the younger kids who were just beginning.

I know that it is cool to not dig American Idol, but to me it is just a television show that has a bunch of kids singing and people get to vote on who they like. I don't find it any more crappy than 95% of the music you hear in the mainstream music industry.

Why do you think it is clearly a shitty show?

11. Agreed on all accounts
I like watching it -- it's fun. And, sometimes you get to see some good singers out of the bunch.

10. Them too
as I've said so many times in the past (most of which were deleted) and before it was cool just because vets were getting targeted.
