All of his scenes were shot at the beginning of the season. Then the rest of the shows were finished as needed.
This worked well until they added Dodie. She grew too much and it became a little more noticeable.
Watched him in The Caine Mutiny just the other day. He may have had a sweet kindly image but when he played bad he was really good at it.

Bogart was a real actor, who would take on unflattering roles like this one and the one in Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
And MacMurray was great in Double Indemnity.

My all time favorite film, hands down. Thanks for reminding me. Cain is one of my favorite authors, too. I've read D.I. at leaat a dozen times and still can never get enough.
