I lost my brother-in-law today
We just received word that my wife's brother died of an apparent heart attack.

He was found in bed by a close friend, and by my wifes' sister.

He was only 47 years old.

I do not know what else to say.

and especially one so young. I lost my brother suddenly last summer at the age of 50. May your memories be sweet and long-lived and your grief no longer than necessary.

19. Speaking as a short clockwork myself
First, I'm sorry for your loss. Truly.

Second, I hope that his suffering was short.

I have two brothers who died; one in his 30's, the other in his 40's, and a father who died in his 40's as well. All of them of heart failure. Some of us are destined for a short existence. I know I am.

And I also know you are grieving right now, and the pain of your loss is overwhelming. But know that what is important is not how we died, but how we lived, and how many people will regret our passing.

May your brother-in-law have lived a life who's end is regretted by many.
