I was run off the road by another vehicle and I was the one ticketed!!!
A truck swerved into the far left lane of a freeway I was driving on. He got in front of me and hit his brakes hard, so I had to hit mine to keep from hitting him. My car began to spin, I spun at least three times, crossing over all three lanes of traffic. Then I went back wards into the median and came to a stop when I hit a sign.

I was very fortunate that nobody else hit me as I spun across the freeway. My car was damaged by the sign I knocked down.

So I called 911 in the hopes they could find the person who did this, instead, I was cited for failure to maintain control of my vehicle at all times!

I don't know how much the fine will be yet. I'm considering going to court and arguing
my side of things.

You got ticketed? Did the cop miss the part where you were run off the road by another vehicle? What a load of bullshit!

2. Do. Go to Court.
Usually, people who defend themselves against routine traffic violations win. How could the person who ticketed you possibly hope to prove the allegation in the citation unless he or she actually saw the accident? It's impossible. Go to Court and tell your story. What could it hurt?

Good luck.

3. Were there any witnesses?
And did any of them stop and give a statement??

Unless they did, it's your word against the police's.

I hope you are ok. I would fight this though.

4. Definitely fight it. The other vehicle fled the scene, the cop gave you...
a ticket "just in case" you were at fault. Now go to court and point out he didn't even look for skid marks, so he has made it impossible to prove liability.

5. I would go to court
I'm dumbfounded by this. Thank goodness you were alright. Would the cop of ticketed you from the back of the ambulance if you would have been injured?

If you can, go back to the scene and take pictures of where you started out and where you ended up to show this was way beyond not maintaining control of your vehicle.

Being spun across the highway must have been awful. Sometimes people suck...

6. That sounds just like an accident I had.
It happened on I-95 in Miami. A woman coming onto the expressway cut me off. I had to slam on my brakes. My brakes locked and my car spun across 5 lines and slammed into the median and overturned. Luckily, I wasn't seriously injured. Just got a cut on the head. But my car was totaled. Fortunately, I did not receive a ticket.

7. Was it the highway patrol down there?
I swear they pull me over the moment I enter Arkansas. They've pulled me over every time I've been in that state!

8. Definitely fight it....
