I have reluctantly decided to use the ignore hide button
I have decided that life's too short to get sucked into some arguments. It's funny that things are starting to bug me when they didn't bother me before. I don't know if I am just having a low tolerance week or what.
I just wanted to thank my friends' on the lounge for always being there fore me you guys rock.

:toast: to the loungers best bunch of buds anyone can have on the net.

1. Big step. I've never used the ignore button.
I bet it feels great. I may give it a go myself today.

Scout

PS - Mornin.

2. Yeah I didn't want too
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 10:21 AM by DanCa
But some of the threads (in other forums) have gotten nasty and I don't want to get caught up in that negativity. With my health the way it is I don't want to waste any more energy.
PS: Good morning to you scout.

14. Thank you for your concern.
I have young onset parkinsons. Let's just say that while I believe that everyone has a right to disagree with me, I wish that people were gentler about it.

4. This is your first step towards mostly avoiding GD
Every now and then I get sucked back in, but for the most part, I just stick to the lounge nowadays. Honestly, if I wanted to see Democrat bashing, I'd sign up for that other site.

5. "I came here for a good argument."
"No you didn't."

"Yes I did. Arguing is not just automatically disputing any statement the other person makes. Arguing is an intellectual process."

"No it isn't."

15. Who did you swear to? There is no Flying Spaghetti Monster!
:-(

Have you heard of the saying, "The saddest thing is a wonderfully simple theory that is ruined by a fact"?

If it's any comfort, let me just say that you have:
1) The knowledge that reality has a richer texture than you realized; and
2) The knowledge that you are not practicing self-deception.

7. Strange you should mention this
I used it today for the first time. It makes it much more pleasant. There are some folks who are just oil and water.

8. I just can't bring myself to use it......I can't handle not knowing what
idiotic, asinine bullshit some fools are gonna post next! Half the fun is holding on and seeing them tombstoned. Usually, I can refrain from responding because there's always some rational DUer around to kick the idiots in the gut over their flamebait. That way I don't waste the time or energy.

12. I find ignore a useless feature but I love hide thread
I do have one person on ignore but in general most people usually don't bother me that much.

But I do find some threads irritating so I hide them :D

19. It's not a negative, Dan.
An old mentor of mine used to say, "You can't make people wrong when they already are." He was wise, but his grammar sucked.

Anyway, I love the ignore and hide thread feature -- it puzzles me why some people think of them as "bad". And you're right about the lounge. There are some wonderful people posting here. :)

stuff like this.

Subject: Telemarketing-the answer

The phone rang as I was sitting down to my evening meal, and as I answered
it I was greeted with "Is this Karl Brummer".
Not sounding anything like my name, I asked who is calling. The
telemarketer said he was with The Rubber Band Powered Freezer Company or
something like that. Then I asked him if he knew Karl personally and why
was he calling this number. I then said off to the side, "get some
pictures of the body at various angles and the blood smears", I then
turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a
murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this
call and he would be receiving a summons to testify in this murder case.

I questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone
number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and
could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call.
The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in
a shaky voice.

I then told him we had located his position and the police were entering the building to take him
into custody. At that point I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away.

My wife asked me as I returned to our table why I had tears streaming down
my face and so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes.
My meal was cold, but it was the best meal in a long, long time.
