Saw "Jimi Hendrix & Band of Gypsies" documentary on cable lastnight...Wow! |
Great conert footage. Great interviews. I know so much more about him. What a guy. What a genius. The film explained the diff. phases of his short career. This film was made in 99. Catch it.

2. Where Ernesto? I did too! My mom took us to see the Monkees in |
he 60's and Jimi warmed up (bizarre double bill). Us kids got scared when he started smashing the instruments... we worried that the monkees would have no guitars to play with. Unfortunatley at the time, I was more into pop music... but I remember the event like it was yesterday.

3. I always thought Band of Gypsies were much tighter than the Experience. |
Both are equally great bands, but BOG were much funkier and less flash.

4. Yeah, the documentary went into that. He did the whole hard Brit |
rock thing, redefined it and wanted to move on... wanted to reach more folks. That stuff could not get played on soul stations. He was just starting to explore it all. If only Jimi would have lived longer.

Caught the Baltimore show. I'm afraid that Jimi was not on his game that night. He was nodding on his feet through most of that show. He did come alive for the encore rendition of Slight Return, which was blazing. It was about 2 months before he died.
